Here is the contect: Perfectionism is all FABRICATED AND FANTASY-DRIVEN
I recently heard a phrase ‘ perfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order.’ It caught me like a deer in headlights. Coming from someone who subconsciously had been living years always wanting more, not being satisfied & being too critical of what he was doing- I consciously realized this was no longer a way to live. The fact of the matter: It is not sustainable, and the pursuit of it filled with more resentment than fulfillment.
What way is that to live a life after all? With a newly found perspective, a lot less of a headache, and a more objective point of view- we as individuals are too pick our slots. Pick our pockets of focus that are aligned with our skill – sets & strengths and practice them.. practice them OFTEN!
Check out these 3 to see if you align under them, and if so ELIMINATE.
Self- oriented perfectionism – This is when somebody is overly-excessive about their own demands on themselves.
Other – oriented perfectionism-This type having to do with the attention to detail placed on the words or actions of others around them
Socially prescribed perfectionism– Lastly, this form is where one feels the burden of society mounting on them to be perfect. External pressure to be a certain way..
We cannot & should not for that matter, please anybody/the world, nor should we be so abrasive & stern on ourselves.
To less focusing on our weaknesses & deficiencies, & more magnifying in on our qualities and abilities.
